Diagnosing malaria parasitaemia  promptly is the duty of the Medical Laboratory Scientists. But conflicts often arise on the right method to choose for routine diagnosis in the hospital or primary health care. The G.C. Okara led AMLSN executives left no one in doubt of their seriousness to bring positive change to the professional practice of MLS in Nigeria and lives of generality of members who elected them into office few weeks ago.
In a strategic move to head to the clarion call and agitation of members who already have high expectation, the new leadership opened a new national secretariat to serve as befitting operational base for the Association and situated at No 12, Messanya Street Near FRSC Medical Centre, Wuse Zone 6, FCT Abuja.
In the same vein, the determined executive declared a two point agenda to rightly show the world their priorities. The focal issues declared are:
Total Implementation Of Scheme of service and JOHESU Ultimatum
for which an extraordinary meeting of all ENEC members have been scheduled for Saturday 22nd October, 2011at the National Secretariat of AMLSN as released by the new PRO Dudu Olabode.

* Establishment Of Directorate Of Medical Laboratory Services In The Health Ministry A Must-Chris Mbata
No doubt that members are still troubled about the non-implementation of the scheme of service in most centres in the nation. In response to a stimulating and thought provoking post by Oni Nelson, Dr. Chris Mbata suggested that the key to effective implementation of MLS scheme of service lies on the establishment of a Directorate of of Medical Laboratory Services in the Ministry of Health. This is a food for thought for the new leadership.
