My Childhood
No. I was not born with silver spoons in my mouth. My father was a low rank military officer and my mother a hardworking, loyal illiterate with native intelligence. My polygamous father had the desire to give his children good education. It took time and sad life experiences to acknowledge the difference between desire and reality. It was difficult to provide for my education and that of my sibblings by the time we got to secondary school. With 3 wives and low income as peculiar to civil servants and zero savings and investment habit, how could his desire to educate his children be realised knowing fully well the cost of education? That was how i got stranded at the time i was to do my G.C.E./WASC exams in 1988. I had the luck of attracting the symphathy of one of my teachers-Mr. Yemi Fapounda who bailed me out by giving me a loan to pay for my examination fee.I had always been passionate about reading and writing from childhood and that habit further fuelled my desire for University education which was almost aborted too as a result of financial handicap but for the schorlaship given me by my church-C.A.C. Oke Alafia Loyola in Ibadan the capital city of Oyo State, South west Nigeria. My Universtiy education at the School Of Medical Laboratory Technology, University College, Ibadan exposed me to the best of training in biomedical sciences where i eventually specialized in histopathology.I was never contented with my discipline at school. I got engaged in extracurricular activities with educational student groups and editorial board of my school. My writing gift was greatly enhanced. From my national youth corps service to my volunteer service at Katsina -Ala in Benue State, i continued to hone my writing skills while at the same time improving myself in financial education. My employment at the department of Pathology University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Nigeria was eventful and miraculous.I decided to give my best, engage in research and also attain financial freedom. Those goals were to define my attitude, conduct and comportment as a medical laboratory scientist and civil servant. My quest for research exposed me to the internet where i discovered and developed my internet education and skills. Those who have been my major motivator in internet education are professor Patricia Letendre-the owner of http://www.patletendre.com/, Ed. Uthman, John Kiernan and Stephen Slap of blessed memory. I could easily ascribe my internet adventure success to them.In leadership, i have been priviledged to lead the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientist as State Chairman in Kwara State for 3 years and was appointed the Local Organising Chairman for the National Conference of the association in 2007. That conference opened up a new vitsa in conference organisation in the profession as a result of internet technology introduced into it.Spiritually i have been priviledged to have accepted the free gift of salvation through faith in Christ since July 1987 at a revival organised by Bishop Francis Wale Oke. That steps has enhanced my stewardship in my local church as an organist and choir leader.Reading books written by Robert Kiyosaki and Napoleon Hill has changed the way i handle personal finance and investment. I want to be financially free by 40 and to retire young. My blogs are a reflection of my multiple talents. I hope you'll find something to come back in this blog. Enjoy it.
